Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter!

The children enjoyed their Wellbeing Day today- a perfect end to the week ... and the sun came out for us too! There have been plenty of activities going on in and around school: a whole school feather collage, yoga, parachute games, a mindful walk on the track, a disco on the KS2 playground at lunchtime and lots more. We hope the children have learnt lots about how to keep their minds healthy and how to boost their emotional wellbeing too.

The day was a perfect end to the week, particularly for our year Six class who have done tremendously well with their SATs. We are very proud of their attitudes and approach to the tests and we are sure that all their hard work building up to this week, will have paid off.

Next week is also a busy one with Year Two SATS beginning, our School Council visiting the Mayoress of Dudley on Wednesday and our Jubilee Celebration on Friday (further details below).

Thankyou to all our parents who are working hard to ensure our children continue to look smart- our uniform is an important part of our school identity and we appreciate your support to uphold this.

Avoncroft School Trip - Friday 27th May

What's coming up...

We have got so many things coming up this term that we wanted to remind you to keep looking at the school calendar. It has all the key information on and saves you going back through different newsletters. As always though, please do not hesitate to ask if you are unsure of anything.

Happy Birthday to you!

We would like to say a very big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to... Max & Harvey who have celebrated their birthday this week.

Message from Public Health...

We have been notified by public health that there have been increased cases of children with Hepatitis in the UK.

Please follow the link below for more information

Fitness Friday with Mr Barnett

Don't forget that Mr Barnett holds a fitness session on Friday mornings, just after children are dropped off. We have a really good range of equipment for parents and family friends to use and is a lovely way to have a catch-up with other parents, whilst burning a few calories at the same time! No need to book, just turn up!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the Pastoral Team

We hope you are all well.  Just a little update, new little buddy groups will begin after half term.

Children who have already been identified will continue to be supported in their usual way.

Should you have any worries or concerns please contact spriest@crestwood-p.dudley.sch.uk or phone the school office and The Pastoral Team will get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, it looks like the sun is going to shine.  Please take care of each other xx

Well done Logan!

We have lots of children who regularly attend our after school Running Club on a Thursday. Logan attends every week and is our first pupil to run the equivalent of a half marathon!  This is a fantastic sporting achievement!

Reading Books!

As you may remember, in Key Stage Two we are moving over to a different system for allocating reading books to children. This is called Accelerated Reader and is linked to the MyON resources that children children can access from home. The Accelerated Reader system involves children being 'assessed' with an online test and this helps to establish an accurate reading level. All our books in Key Stage Two are now banded in different colours and depending on your child's reading 'level' they will be able to choose books from the matching colour band.

As not all children have been assessed and will not have had their books allocated, most children in KS2 will not have a reading book to bring home, for the next few days. Please don't worry about this- they can continue to read anything at home or from the library if you are able to visit.

Children will be re-issued books as soon as possible- any questions, please ask.

Cookery Club

Next week cookery club will be on a Wednesday instead of Tuesday after school due to staff training.

We hope that you can all still make it!

Mrs Akthar will be uploading the recipes soon so you can try them at home - keep a look out for them!

Looking after our Community...Family Charity Day

There is a Family Charity fun day on 3 July 2022 at 3pm at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club.

The day is in memory of Harley who sadly passed away in February this year and Amelia’s ongoing fight as she’s awaiting a heart transplant.

Their stories are below and there is a Facebook page dedicated to the event-   https://www.facebook.com/groups/300762652129767/?ref=share.

And finally,

Reading about the Fun Day in honour of Harley and Amelia (above) acts a reminder to us all that we need to appreciate how precious our families are and how grateful we should be for each day.

Have a good weekend folks, look after each other perhaps give a few more hugs to those you love.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
