Be the best you can be

English grammar, reading and spellings continued

Hello children! Today's English is very much a continuation of your apostrophes and spelling work. Remember, choose the level of activity you think is best for you! You will be looking at plural possession so remember to look at the power point (pdf form) to give examples and answers before attemping your fluency questions. It's been really pleasing to see so many of you attempting the greater depth work! Keep pushing yourselves to be the best that you can be!

Today's reading activity continues my theme of wolves in stories. Have you ever wondered why in a lot of children's stories the wolf is often portrayed as an evil character? Here is another example for you to listen to and enjoy! Have a think about why wolves are seen in this way - you might even design a book cover for this story featuring two of my favourite animals! I'd love to see what you can come up with!

Soon, I will show you that not all stories are what they appear to be and perhaps we shouldn't be so hasty to look at characters as "bad guys"- remember, there is always two sides to a story... More on this to follow in the coming days!

Maths (Division)

This week you have been looking at division. Here is an example video for you to watch on the "bus stop method"

Watch the video and have a go at the example questions on page 1. If you feel like a really difficult challenge, try the second page but this is hard work and I do not expect you to do this at all so do not worry or stress.

Just have a go and explore the method and remember, it's ok if you're getting confused. We can go back to this when you are back in school.

Art - Tessellation

For art this term, we will be focussing upon Tessellation and making art out of repetition. I have attached a powerpoint and an example of how you might achieve this. This is just one example of how this can be done. An easier way to do this is to draw around a shape such as a square or a triangle to make your repeating pattern. You can then decorate these with up to 3 different colours. Explore how to make different patterns using more than one shape for an extra challenge but remember, there shouldn't be any gaps on the page. I hope you enjoy this activity.
