Welcome to

Crestwood Park Primary School

Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Weekly Newsletter!

The penultimate week of the half term has been busy as usual!

On Monday, our Year 6 SPARKS ambassadors went out and about in the community, giving up their time to ensure their community is cared for- read on for more details!

On Tuesday we focused on Safer Internet Day- our Digital Ambassadors did a fantastic job of sharing some important messages about keeping safe online.

During the week, all children have been learning a song that was then performed live at 'Resonance', the Dudley Performing Arts Hub in Brierley Hill. It was wonderful to go from class to class, hearing children singing along so beautifully.  Watch the recording of the live stream here!

The week finished with Year 4's class assembly - it was a super spectacle of gymnastics, cornet playing and singing, with a demonstration of their super art and Geography skills too! Well done year 4!

Next Friday is our Achievers' Assembly- please remember that parents will be invited to this, if their child is receiving a certificate.

With restrictions relaxing rapidly, we are almost at the point where we can open assemblies out to all parents and carers again- this has always been a feature of Crestwood Park and it's certainly not something that is offered across all schools, however, we are keen to reinstate this and will do so as soon as we have the go-ahead!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Go Bright for MDUK!

Wow! You were so bright we needed sunglasses!

Thank you to all of the children for participating in Go Bright Day in aid of Muscular Dystrophy; all money raised will keep our brightest minds searching for treatments and cures.

So far we have raised a wonderful £169.00!

If you have not yet donated - you can do this via your Teachers2Parents App!

Head Lice in KS1

It has come to our attention that there is an outbreak of head lice in KS1. We need everyone's help to get this under control.

Treatment: Wash hair and apply a generous amount of conditioner. With a fine toothed comb, carefully comb the hair from the scalp to the end of the hair. Look at the comb after each stroke and wipe clean. If done thoroughly, this will remove all live lice as the hair is so slippery they can't cling on! This is the most effective treatment, but needs repeating on a daily basis until all eggs have vanished. Chemical treatments can be purchased over the counter but it is known that some head-lice become resistant to these and, therefore, no chemical preparation is 100% effective.

Please remember, there is no shame in having head-lice but it is flub to do nothing about it!

Thank-you!

School Council - Flower craft competition

The school council are holding a flower craft competition!

Put your art skills to the test and see if you can create some flowery crafts!

Can you create a paper rose or even design a new type of flower? We can not wait to see what you come up with! We know we have lots of crafty children and parents!

The competition will be £1 to enter and the proceeds will go towards buying flowers and plants for the school grounds.

All entries will need to be handed into your child's class by Friday 18th February and winners will be announced in the Achievers' Assembly.

Good luck & happy crafting!

Can you help?

Reception are searching for metal tea sets, if anyone has one they would like to donate we would be very grateful!

Looking after our Community...

Crestwood Park Community Acts of Kindness

On Monday afternoon our Year 6 volunteers were busy keeping our local area litter free!

Three bags of litter were collected! A big well done to our volunteers & we hope our efforts have made a difference in the local community!

We're super proud of our children for such a selfless and worthy act of kindness.

And finally,

One more week and then we are officially half way through the school year! it's lovely to see the evenings getting a bit lighter and seeing a bit of sunshine too- we're not sure it will stay sunny over the weekend but whatever you get up to, enjoy and stay safe.

See you all on Monday morning!

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children our safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
