Be the best you can be

Welcome to our Newsletter

Another week has flown by, and it has been another week with some wonderful highlights. None more so than World Book Day on Thursday. Our school is a school where reading is loved and celebrated throughout the year, not just on this day. The day does however, mean we can dress up and really show off our commitment to reading. Please see below for news and photos of how the day was spent!

Year 2 class assembly took place today and we were treated to lots of facts about living things. It was clear that the year 2 children have really been enjoying their Science topic and their rendition of ‘Bare Necessities’ brought much cheer on what started out as quite a gloomy Friday morning!

Such highlights in school take a great deal of organising and preparation. Mrs Cadman and the English Ambassadors did a great job of putting together a truly wonderful World Book Day and Miss Clarke and the year 2 team helped the children prepare a lovely year 2 class assembly. Thank you also to our families for supporting the children to take part in such events.

You won't know 'til you ask (DSIT)

The UK government has launched the 'Kids Online Safety' campaign to help parents and carers support their children to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.

The campaign brings together practical, trusted guidance on how to start meaningful conversations about online life, understand the types of content children may encounter, and build critical thinking skills so young people can question what they see and make safer choices.

It also offers advice on using tools such as parental controls, recognising potential risks, and knowing where to seek help or report concerns. The overall aim is to make online safety an ongoing, open dialogue within families rather than a one-off conversation, helping children feel supported as they explore apps, games and social media.

You can find the resources here:

Mrs Cadman's News / Little Miss Sunshine's News!

This week we celebrated World Book Day and what a fabulous day it was! The themes this year are 'Having Fun' and 'Go All In'

It was fantastic to see so many children (and Staff) dressed up as well-known book characters.

We started the day with a whole school assembly, which was led by the Year 6 English Ambassadors, followed by Buddy Up To Read, where children were able to read with other pupils from different classes.  Each class took part in the Book Hunt during the day to find the punchline to the joke and the day was finished with Storytime from a different teacher.

The English Ambassadors introduced our Competition - see below for more information.

Throughout the day, there were lots of activities taking place within the classrooms.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us celebrate World Book Day and the importance of reading.

The passion we all show towards books and reading really makes a difference to our pupils!

Pastoral Update

We hope you are all well and have had a good week.

This week we are sharing some information about how to support your child to be brave.  Children build resilience by feeling safe and loved.  They are more likely to be brave if they can see that they have an adult to 'catch them if they fall'.  Brave is the bit in between feeling anxious about something and the end goal.  Everyone feels apprehensive/anxious when tackling a new experience, being brave allows us to cope and move onto that new experience.  This builds confidence and resilience. Support your child to be brave.

We hope you have a lovely weekend, look after each other.  Lots of the love from The Pastoral Team xxx
ASTHMA - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

If your child in on our asthma register, please can you make sure that your child has an inhaler and spacer in school and is labelled and in date.

Thank you for your support, together we can give your child the best care.

Foster Carers Wanted

Dudley Council are looking to recruit foster carers across the Dudley Borough. Foster care plays a vital part in so many children’s and young people’s lives. In Dudley, the need for foster carers is greater than ever. Please see the attached leaflet regarding taking the first steps into becoming a foster carer.

Finally...

In a week where reading has been celebrated, I will leave you with a quote to encourage you to do some reading this weekend...

"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is the responsibility of everyone in our school and at all times we consider what is in our children's best interests. We work to ensure our children are safe and cared for and by doing this we are protecting their health and development and preventing them from harm.  If we are worried, we will raise concerns, share information and take prompt action with the aim of ensuring families receive the right help at the right time.
