Healthy Breaktime Initiative Update
As you know, about 12 months ago and following the requests from our School Council, we adopted a Healthy Breaktime Policy across the whole school. In order to support this, the school have been paying for the additional 'fruit and veg' playtime snacks for KS2. It is great to see all children eating healthily and it is also wonderful to see that so many of you are supporting the policy by sending your children in with fruit. We are now trying to do two things-
1- We are looking to find funding for the KS2 fruit. It costs around £500 a year. The School Council have written letters to Mike Wood, our local MP, asking for support and we are delivering those letters to his office in Wordsley next week. If you know of any company or business that might be willing to help us with this cost, please pop in to the office.
2- We are considering using a different supplier. At the moment, we use the company that supply the KS1 fruit (paid for by the Government). We would be very interested in using a local supplier/ farm/ grocers. Do you know anyone that might be able to give us a quote?
All ideas are very gratefully received!

Sainsbury's Active Kids
It's the final week to collect Active Kids vouchers from Sainsbury's. It's time to get those last few vouchers from the back of your purse and bring them into school so that we can order all the lovely things we need for children to use at lunchtime. Last year, we collected 3204 vouchers, let's see if we can beat this in 2017! Please collect as many as you can in this last week and send to school as soon as possible. We have until 23rd June to count the vouchers and place our order.
Bank Holiday Activities
During this bank holiday period there are many activities going on in and around Dudley. Here are a few that might be of interest: Black Country Museum - Monday 1st May - Visitors will be treated to Maypole dancing, Punch & Judy booth and traditional street games on offer from 10am to 5pm. The Bonded Warehouse - Monday 1st May - A 7.5 hour return trip to the lovely village of Kinver along the Stourbridge & Worcs Canal. Boat leaves at 10am and returns at approximately 5:30pm. The Tenth Lock - On Saturday 29th April there will be 'Breakfast with a Princess' at the Tenth Lock, Delph Road. Children must be accompanied by an adult - £7 per child. Clent Hills - Sunday 30th April - Bluebell Walk. Marvel at the carpets of bluebells that cover the Clent Hills on a 5 mile guided ramble. Sunday 30th April sees the 2017 Dudley Trail set off from Dudley Leisure Centre. Challenge walks of 6, 9, 12, 20 or 28 miles around the Dudley Borough. This is open to walkers of all ages and abilities.
Classroom in the clouds
Before Easter we had a wonderful assembly about an initiative to raise money to build a school in Nepal, which is being supported by several Dudley Schools. We still have a handful of wrist bands left to sell at £1:00 each, which will be on sale next week at breaktimes. The children are also very keen to do something themselves to raise money. Mrs Cooper will be meeting with the school council to plan some small events to help raise funds towards this fantastic project. Visit www.classroomsintheclouds.org for more details.
